of the Newington Forest NEPTUNES!!
Please take time to look through our website, which is full of information about our swim team. If you have any questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Newington Forest Swim Team (NFST INC) is a non-profit 501-(c)3 community based athletic organization. NFST INC is a member of the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL), the largest summer swim league in the United States.
The team is comprised strictly of homeowners and renters of the Newington Forest Community Association. This is unique to NVSL swim teams, and we find that it is a special way to bring our community together. We swim with neighbors and classmates!
The NEPTUNES summer swim program is broken into two parts:
**The Neptunes Swim Team consists of swimmers from approximately ages six to eighteen. They compete in NVSL A League swim meets and divisional events. The team also participates in the Springfield-Burke developmental league (B-meets) with surrounding pools. Over the course of 2 months in the summer (starting the Tuesday after Memorial Day through the end of July), the team can compete in up to thirteen competitive events, not including All-Stars.
**Our MINI Neptunes program is for children at least four years of age (and potty trained) until approximately seven years of age. This is our developmental program that teaches participants how to swim through close instruction by an adult coach and assisted by teen swimming mentors. The program’s goal is to graduate from the MINI swimmer program to eventually join the Neptunes competitive swim team.
We measure our success in different ways: team achievements, individual accomplishments, and swimming improvement. But above all, the Neptunes swim team promotes sportsmanship and a positive team environment. Our philosophy is centered on our swimmers demonstrating respect for each other, competing teams, coaches, volunteers, and their parents.
Parents volunteer numerous hours to create a healthy environment that encourages the kids to do their best, recognizes their contributions, and is fun for the entire family. Counter to other youth sports, it takes an army of parents to make a swim season a success. Communication between parents, board members and coaches is vital to our success. Parents are highly encouraged to communicate their opinions and observations so we can always improve the team and environment that we compete in. Please email us at email@example.com with questions or concerns.
Many of our community youth have used the successes on the team and carried the life skills learned to future adult success. We are a small team with big hearts.
