IMPORTANT - need feedback + NVSL training tomorrow!!

2 IMPORTANT items!

1. If you signed up to receive Twitter updates and did NOT receive 2 Twitter texts last night regarding thunder and the last practice being canceled, PLEASE email me. A number of people on the board did NOT receive the Twitter blast which concerns me.

2. NVSL Training. Looks like a probable rain-out tomorrow so … what better way to spend part of your Saturday morning, than at NVSL TRAINING!!!  Woohoo!  Training is FREE and you don't need to register in advance.  Tomorrow, Saturday, June 2nd is NVSL University at Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA. The following clinics are available tomorrow.

A.  New Referee @ 8am (training class is 2 hours)

* Seasoned swim parents: If you have experience with Stroke & Turn, please consider training to be a Referee at swim meets! And don’t worry, we will let you shadow other Refs before flying solo! Shadowing earns you volunteer points as well.  Only other time available is Tuesday, June 12 at 7:00pm at Lee Graham Pool.

B.  New Starter @ 8am (training class is 2 hours)

* Seasoned swim parents: If you have experience with Stroke & Turn, please consider beginning the training to be a Starter (working with Ref and announcing each heat/event)!  Only other time available is Sunday, June 17 at 9:30am at Mantua Pool.

C.  Referee/Starter (recertification every 2 years. 2 hours) @ 8:00am

* Refs/Starters: If you didn’t go to training last year, you MUST get recertification this year. Only other time available is Sunday, June 17 at 9:30am at Mantua Pool.

D.  Stroke & Turn @ 10:30am (training class is 2 hours)

* We need two S&T judges at every meet (A&B). This position requires training. And we ALWAYS need more S&T judges to make lighter work for all. PLEASE consider attending training. And don’t worry, we will let you shadow other S&T judges before you fly solo! Shadowing earns you volunteer points as well.

* Additional S&T certification clinics are available:  Saturday-June 9 at 8am at Virginia Hills, Sunday-June 17 at 9:30am at Hunt Valley, Wednesday-June 20 at 7:00pm at Hunt Valley or Sully Station

E.  Clerk of Course @ 9:30am (only time training is offered this spring)

* This position does not “require” training, but is an important position at all swim meets. We need more parents to volunteer in this role. If interested, please consider attending this training.

F.  Chief Timer @ 9:00am

* If you have some experience timing, PLEASE consider attending this non-mandatory training to work as “Chief Timer” at any of our 5 home meets.  Training also available: Saturday, June 9th at 8:00am at Annandale Pool

G.  Announcer @10:00am (only time training is offered this spring)

* Chris Goodrich has been our Announcer for years. Next summer (2019) is his last with the team. If anyone has an interest to train with him this year (& next), please let us know. Training is not mandatory, but is offered.

H.  Table Admin @ 8:30am (only time training is offered this spring)

* This session includes training on ALL table positions such as: Place Recorder, Assistant Place Recorder, Verifier & Awards ClerkDescriptions of positions are available on the website.  NOTE: At our 5 home meets, these positions are INSIDE the air conditioned Community Center. You can watch your child swim from the deck.
