TIME TRIALS - this Saturday morning, June 16th!!
VERY IMPORTANT!!
TIME TRIALS are this SATURDAY, June 16th starting promptly at 9am.
We need swimmers at the pool by 8:15am for warmups, so we can begin PROMPTLY (if prompt and fully staffed with volunteers, we hope to finish by 11am or shortly after)! All swimmers meet in the grassy area in the back. Please declare your swimmers availability (on website under "Events & Signups" click "Meet Entry"). We also need parents to sign up for VOLUNTEER positions.
WHAT ARE TIME TRIALS? “Time Trials” is a swim event where team members swim as many of the 4 strokes as they are able (legally per the swim coaches). Strokes are freestyle, back, breast and butterfly. We time them, and use it as a baseline for the upcoming A Meet competitions.
Young swimmers: If your child cannot swim across the pool legally in any stroke by this time, we will need to move your swimmer to the Minis program until they are able to swim 25M legally in at least one stroke. In the Mini program, they will receive the instruction they need, and when ready, can swim with the Neptunes team. **Please remember: “freestyle” means that your swimmer needs to get from one end of the lane to the other without pulling on the lane line or touching the bottom/pushing off. A swimmer can doggie paddle, backstroke, swim underwater, etc. They just need to swim the length of the lane without stopping.
We are not competing against any other team, BUT we set up the pool just like a swim meet, fill volunteer positions, and it’s a great opportunity for new swimmers and parents to get the *feel* of a swim meet.
It is VERY IMPORTANT that as many swimmers attend this event as possible. Times are critical in aiding coaches in placing swimmers in meets. Makeups will be available during practices early the following week.
PLEASE GO TO THE “EVENTS & SIGNUPS” page on the website to declare your child available for Time Trials (under "Events & Signups" click "Meet Entry").
VOLUNTEERS!!! We can’t do this without you!! We need parents to help in every capacity this Saturday. Unlike normal swim meets, we will need 18 Timers (versus 9 normally). This is a great time to learn an easy and fun job where you can watch the races close up! If we don’t have enough Timers, the day will run longer.
This is also a great time for new Stroke & Turn judges to shadow others. SEASONED Stroke &Turn JUDGES, please signup and be ready to share your knowledge!
Visit the website to read descriptions of volunteer positions. And remember, Time Trials is a GREAT opportunity to learn! If you are nervous, I will gladly pair you up with a friendly swim parent to show you the ropes! Just email me.
The remainder of the swim meets/events are still being loaded into Swimtopia. As soon as they are ready for you to signup for volunteer slots, I will email immediately. (Some are already open to allow you to mark your swimmers availability for swim meets.)
If you have any questions, please email.
Tyler Wyllie (Team Rep)
