Dining for Dollars Dates and General Fundraising Information
Swim Team Fundraising 101:
Why do we need to raise funds?
- Our fundraising supports a variety of needs for the Swim Team. In terms of equipment, it pays the cost of repairing and replacing all the equipment we need to run a swim meet and use at practice for training. Additionally, fundraising provides for the team-wide social events throughout the season (morning breakfasts, the ice cream social, end of the year party, BBQ)
- With this in mind, we try limit the number of fundraisers we offer to those that have the greatest profit potential for our team. Certain fundraisers are designed to reach an audience beyond just our team families while others are more team-based in nature.
How the Neptunes Fundraise:
- In Season: Dining for Dollars, Swim-a-thon (July 18) and Silent Auction (July 29)
- Out of Season: Indian River Fruit Sale and Pictures with Santa
In-Season Fundraisers:
Dining for Dollars:
- We eat at a restaurant on the specified date and our team receives a portion of the sales from our team’s orders.
- Many of our Dining for Dollars events will take place at the conclusion of our Home A meets, but everyone on the team is invited to have lunch and socialize; it’s not just for those families swimming in the A meets.
Dates:
- Tuesday, June 19 Chipotle (Lorton Market Station location from 4-8 pm)
- Saturday, June 30 Marco’s Pizza 12pm (meet for lunch after A meet, fundraiser is good all day)
- Saturday, July 7 Glory Days (meet for lunch after A meet, fundraiser is good all of June and July)
- Saturday, July 21 Glory Days (meet for lunch after A meet, fundraiser is good all day)
Swim-a-thon: For this fundraiser, Neptune swimmers reach out to friends/family to pledge donations for the amount of laps that he/she is able to swim. We are going to host our annual Swim-a-thon on July 18 and forms will be handed out in June.
Silent Auction: We are hosting a silent auction at our end of the year party this year. Items that have already been donated are passes to Orange Theory, Gift Cards to Glory Days Grill, and handmade hooded towels made by Jamie Embry. Do you have a business or a special skill and want to donate something to our silent Auction? Contact Lisa Pratt for more information.
Off-Season Fundraisers:
Indian River Citrus Fruit Sale: This is a fairly unique fundraiser in this area. There are only two other organizations that offer it – Annandale and Lee High School. We will be selling boxes of Florida citrus straight from the grove (starting price point at $20). The sales dates will be in early fall and the fruit will be delivered just before Thanksgiving. They also offer gift boxes so you can purchase a box for teachers, coaches, business associates, etc. as gifts. This is a great healthy alternative to the candy sales that so many organizations sell in the fall. A sample brochure is attached.
Photos with Santa: We are going to host holiday photos with Santa with a festive backdrop. This will be a donation-based event and the photos will be emailed for you to print as you want. The morning session will be for kids and the afternoon session will be for pets. More info coming.
