MINI Neptune parents,

Welcome to the team!  We are excited to meet you, and get your kids in the pool!!  Here is some helpful information, but most importantly, ASSESSMENTS begin TOMORROW, Wednesday & Thursday, June 20th & 21st.

Here are the instructions:

1) Which day do you come?

• Wednesday June 20th at 8:00 AM if your last name begins with A-L.
• Thursday at June 21st 8:00 AM if your last name begins with M-Z.

2) Please sign-in at the MINIS Information desk as you enter the pool deck. Also remember that registration must be completed and PAYMENT is DUE before a child can enter the pool.

3) Assessments will be done in small groups for safety and so that Christine, our Minis Coach, can get an idea of each swimmer's level, and they can be grouped with other kids of similar abilities. Have your Mini Swimmer ready to swim! (bathing suit, towel, goggles if you choose.)

4) Starting on Monday, June 25th, lessons/practices will occur at three possible sessions. You'll be advised by the coach what session your child will attend via email on Friday, June 22nd. If you have scheduling conflicts, please alert us as soon as possible, and we will do our best to accommodate your request. But please understand that we also need to group the kids by ability to ensure effective teaching.

• Session 1: 8:00 - 8:40 AM
• Session 2: 8:45 - 9:25 AM
• Session 3: 9:30 - 10:10 AM

5) VERY IMPORTANT:  Please remember that for the duration of your child's swim lesson, we need a parent or guardian present at the pool at all times. This is for your child's safety.

6) MINI Neptunes practice is expected to end by Friday, July 27th, though their official season ends at our END OF SEASON party on Sunday, July 29th.

7) Who is coaching/teaching your kids? Christine Gilmore is our Minis Coach again this year. She will be assisted by Coach Wolfgang Kerat, who also coaches the older kids on the swim team. In addition, we ask our teenagers swimmers to help, to ensure as much personal instruction as possible.

YES!! Mini swimmers and families are a part of the Neptune Swim Team family. All families are invited to team social events, at or away from the pool. We also invite our MINIS to display what they are learning at a Lollipop Race at the beginning of each of our 5 HOME Swim meets (B meets on Monday evenings: 6/25 & 7/16, A Meets on Saturday mornings: 6/30, 7/7, 7/21)

I know this is after the very first day of Minis practice, but we would LOVE for your MINIS to join us by swimming across the deep end of the pool (with noodles, kickboards, and plenty of teenage swimmers to help). They will get a lollipop too!  More information will be emailed later this week about the meet on Monday. Please think about participating at the meets. It's a great way to get exposed to the swim meet environment. 

9) We understand this is a lot of information. Please do not hesitate to ask us questions. As a Team Rep, it is my job to help answer parents questions while the coaches are coaching your kids. I will be at the information desk both days of assessments AND at many Minis practices. We will be sure that our board members make themselves known to you, by having an information desk open during the first few days of Minis practice next week.
