Letter from the NFST Board

Hello Neptunes Families,

As our first week of morning practices come to a close on Friday, the NFST Board wanted to share a few updates and reminders concerning safety and our positive role in the Newington Forest Community.

Morning Practice Safety Guidelines
Remember that it is NFST policy that swimmers under 13 years old not be “dropped off” at practice without an adult (parent or other responsible adult) supervising them. Also, while swimmers are in the water during practice, the coaches are supervising them. But outside of those times, the coaches cannot supervise swimmers of other age groups who may happen to be at the pool. We have had a few occasions where board members have had to ask children to get out of the pool or off of tables in the grassy area. Please make sure to supervise your swimmers – we want them to be safe!

NFST as a Good Community Member at the Pool
Please help the team tidy up the pool deck during practices, so that we leave the pool in better shape than we found it. When we leave the pool, trash from practice should be picked up, lost items can be placed in lost and found, and chairs should be returned to their correct positions (around tables, and lounge chairs set flat).

Finally, head lice has been reported for one of our swimmers. The CDC notes that lice are unlikely to spread in a swimming pool – but the board simply wanted the team to know, and recommend that you check your swimmers as a precaution.
